A day at the park
Sunday we setup camp at Luncoln park on the beach so we could have a bbq with our other peps friends to kick off summer. We setup the kids teepee with a tin of books, the corn hike game, water guns, beach toys and chalk. We were there for 6 hours without the kids getting bored and their friends were there for a good chunk of it, running on the beach, climbing up hills and into tree stumps. It was a good chance for parents to visit and the kids to have plenty of space to roam.

Going Fishing
Today was fishing on the docks here at West Seattle. The local sportsman club puts a hundred trout in a tank for the kids to fish with bamboo poles. Addie did it a de years ago and caught a fish in the first minute. No such luck this time, we waited for 5 minutes and then gave up but kind of caught a fish when our pole got tangled with another kids when he was pulling his fish out of the tank. Addie and Calvin wanted to take the fish home but I explained if we took one home we would have to eat it and that put a quick end to the request. Later that morning we went for a walk on the beach since low tide had exposed the tide pools. Mid way through the walk a big bald eagle came down and spent some time on the beach eating the crabs that littered the sand. He didn't seem to mind us at all, Calvin got within 8 feet of him, and you truly forget how big they are.

Lopsided smile
Well, Addie lost her second tooth. This time it was a top tooth in the same side as the one she already lost on the bottom so she has a whole side of her mouth vacant while the other side is normal.

Camp with Addie
Addie is going to summer camp during the day on the peninsula and will stay with her grandparents at night. Today was the camp open house so we took a tour of the facilities and Addie wanted to go in the canoes in the lagoon. Damien took the kids for a paddle around the area and they had a blast. The camp also had a marine biology section with some large touch tanks (which we had to pry Calvin off of), a climbing wall, cabins, arts and crafts and everything else you expect. Addie is really looking forward to going back in a few weeks and I think Calvin is looking forward to playing with his Legos in peace and quiet when she is gone for the week.
