Ballerina Tea Party

It was birthday party central today with 2 birthday parties for the kids (lots of sugar and hype). The second party was a dancing princess tea which at first Calvin was resistant to but eventually out a cape on (girls had tutus and the boys got prince capes). They got to decorate crowns and tea cups while eating tiara shaped sandwiches.... Lovely.

Turtled Out

Calvin really loves his TMNT gear. The hat and puzzle today were all that he talked about (to everyone he saw). The target employee we saw this morning while running errands was quite impressed Calvin could name all the turtles.

Living at ikea

It seems that we have been heading to Ikea multiple times a week for the store and most times at least one child accompanies me on the trip (and sometimes Damien too). So, needless to say I have gotten more efficient in packing the cart, maneuvering the kids and packing the car.... The assembly is still daunting. 

Addie and Calvin enjoy going to Ikea since they have chicken strips at the cafe and then get to go play in the kids area. Calvin is always upset when we show up to pick him up, he goes to the furthest spot in the ball pit so no one can get him and it usually takes the poor ikea employees a few tries of talking him out of there before he leaves.

Pre Halloween Pumpkin patch visit

Last weekend we took the kids to a pumpkin patch, little did we know it was more of an amusement park than a pumpkin patch. It was really pretty fun, they had canoe rides, trains, flying corn, ponies, tepees, hay jumps and roller coasters. The kids enjoyed the day and had a great time. We didn't even make it out to the actual pumpkin patch since it started to rain around 2 and we decided to skip the wet and mud.

Happy Halloween!

With a kids parade at preschool around the track and a HUGE school wide parade at Addie's school the day was filled with Halloween fun. There were multiple Elsa's and Princess Ana's as well as a ton of Avengers (hence 2 captain Americas at preschool). Plus, since Cesar is in town we even got a happy hour at Maranation in!

Friday Funday

It was Addie's Move a thon on Friday where the kids run around the track for 30 minutes and try to do as many laps as they can. Addie did pretty well, running a little and walking for the rest of the time. Later that night was the Hiawatha Halloween carnival so the kids enjoyed seeing friends and bouncing in the bounce houses and playing the carnival games. Calvin dressed up as Captain America and Addie dressed up as Princess Ana from Frozen. 

Falling through the cracks

With a lot going in right now certain things are falling through the cracks. For instance this morning the kids have no milk for their cereal because I could only make it to Home Depot last night before Calvin melted down and as I pulled into market Calvin was still sobbing over the balloon at Home Depot. I opted to save my sanity over grab milk..... So, this morning Calcin is having water in his cereal; I don't think he is a fan.

Early morning beach walks

Calvin and I head down to the beach in between when we drop Addie off at school and when his preschool starts. He loves to chase the seagulls and throw rocks in the water. His favorite thing to find is crab heads, around the point in the Summer there are loads of live crabs in the shallow tide pool areas. Today there was a rainbow over the Sound as the rain cleared and made way for some sunshine, pardon his buns hanging out (he likes to wear his pants backwards and has no butt to keep them up).

It's official!

Calisea is taking a big step forward with its own store! I love (and miss) funky historical homes so this will definitely fill that void. We are in the Pioneer Square Hotel building that was built in 1910 and the space has huge front windows and a cool old skylight in my back office. The store will be approx 1200 square feet, so a nice entry into the world if retail without taking in something too big. Now for a busy month of painting, ordering and a lot if IKEA assembly. It will be really nice to get out of the house (and West Seattle) but I am really looking forward to a separation of work and home.

Ninja Turtles

Calvin has been in quite the ninja turtle kick lately (TMNT backpack, water bottle, hat, tooth paste and even mouth wash). So Damien got the $5 ninja turtle movies from the 90s so they could watch some of those instead of the new ones on Nickelodian. The expression on his face when he started watching it was great, utter confusion in what these new turtles were.... Of corse any turtle is just fine with him so he likes watching the 25 year old version just fine.

Catching up in pictures

Last week was spent getting back into the swing of things. Calvin was in his first week of school and Addie her first full week. Both kids love being in school and are tuckered out by the end of the day. Calvin had a dentist appointment on Friday and did really well with letting them do a cleaning and fix a chip on his front tooth. Grandmama spent the night Friday so she could go to Addie's back to school carnival. Them she took the kids back to Gig Harbor for the night and give Damien and I a nice night out (that we decided to spend in playing board games). It was a good weekend, and now we are back into the swing of things.

Calvin's First Day of School

Calvin started preschool on Monday. He is going to half day preschool at the se school Addie did last year. It worked out well since he went to Summer school at hiawatha with Addie and can now enjoy flying solo. No tears at drop off for him (or me).
