Ice Cream and the park

The sun was out so we spent the early evening at the park, soaking up some sun and letting the kids run around. We headed to Alki for dinner and the kids got ice cream as a special treat. Summer is finally starting to arrive!

A Camping We Will Go

Damien booked a camping trip for the kids when I had a possible business trip; u ended up not going so I went camping with them for one of the four nights. We went up to Bowman Bay which was a beautiful part of Deception Pass on Whidbey Island. The kids had a blast walking in the beach, digging with their shovels and enjoying their stomp rockets.  The dogs came with us so we didn't have to board them. Fortunately the weather was pretty sunny and we didn't get any rain so we had plenty of fun exploring and walking the different beaches.

Calvin's Birthday

For Calvin's Birthday (also Mothers Day) we went out to a few parks and enjoyed the sunshine. Of course Buzz came with us too, which is actually why we decided to go to the parks since some of the play places wouldn't be able to have Buzz come in and we knew Calvin wouldn't go for that. We spent the evening at Lincoln Park with a picnic and some time in the pool when we got home.

Garage sale bonanza

Yesterday was the annual West Seattle garage sale day where hundreds of garage sales go on in the span of one day. So, we walked around the neighborhoods for a while which was perfect since the sun was out and we still have the stroller. Addie was the one to find something first. A pair of plastic blue flip flops with beads all over them. She quickly traded her old shoes for the new flip flops to wear and proceeded to fall down several times since the shoes had absolutely no grip. She loves th all the same and won't take them off unless we tell her she has to. Then Addie found her second treasure, a Jessie doll from Toy Story (which the kids know well from the movie). This of course prompted Calvin to want to find a Buzz Lightyear. So, at every garage sale he would walk up to the host and ask if they had any Buzzes. We let that go on for a while and then remembered one of the garage sales had posted a photo of all the toys they were selling and in that picture were 3 Buzz light years. It was a bit further a way so we got back in the car and drove their hoping they still had one..... Once Calvin sets his mind on something it can be pretty ugly if it doesn't come to fruition. Luckily they still had 2 Buzzes when we got there so Calvin got his Buzz (and the garage sale people knew how to upsell and pointed out that they had Woody, Bullseye and the coordinating bag too). So now we have a nice little grouping of Toy Story toys, but Calvin hasn't let Buzz out of his sight and is completely enamoured with him so it is fun to watch. Addie likes her Jessie too and they play well together. 

Warm weather beach time

The weather has finally started to warm up, it's not hot like SoCal but the 70s is warm for Seattle. Combine that with the later sunsets and we have been taking the kids to the beach after dinner. Most of the beaches have a ton of driftwood that people have made into forts that the kids love playing in. Calvin likes to find the piece of wood that he can use to destroy things with (Damien tought them how to smash shells the other night). Addie and Damien tried to build a catapult with a flat piece of wood but couldn't quite get it to work; something to work on for the next visit.
